A root canal is a dental operation used to remove germs and dead or dying nerve tissue from inside a tooth in order to save it. The dentist will apply an anesthetic (numbing medication) to the damaged tooth using a topical gel and a needle. When the needle is being put, you can experience a tiny prick. The pulp of your tooth will then be exposed when your dentist uses a tiny drill to remove a tiny bit of the tooth's top. Usually, this is referred to as "gaining access to the pulp." Connective tissue, blood vessels, and nerves make up pulp. It is located inside the tooth and extends to the jaw bone via tooth canals. Special instruments known as files are used to remove the dead or contaminated pulp. A disinfectant solution is used to clean and irrigate the canals, which are microscopic passageways inside the tooth. To ensure that all of the germs are eliminated and to stop additional infections, medications may be applied to the area. A permanent substance is used to plug the canals after the tooth has been cleaned.
