Oral surgery is any surgical procedure performed on the teeth, gums, jaw, or other oral structures. These include extractions, implants, gum grafts, and jaw surgery. Oral surgery is usually performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon or periodontist. These are dentists who have advanced training in oral surgery.
